Our Story_OLD

The Travelling Kimono journey started in 2013 when founder, Janelle Rawlins needed a creative outlet. She began sketching out designs of garments to fulfil this need and as the process unfolded she realised this was something she wanted to pursue. Having a desire to want to empower women combined with a then, basic understanding of the impact on people and the planet within the garment industry, she wanted to create something that not only reflected quality, comfort and style but something lasting that would make difference in people's lives.

Having done our research and already decided that we wanted to produce TTK’s garments in Vietnam, but didn't want to align ourselves with factories or manufacturers that didn’t share the same ethical values and vision of what we were trying to create, we were connected through Janelle’s nail lady in Australia to our now main seamstress Men and her family.

All TTK collections are designed in Noosa QLD by Janelle, and are refined by Men and her small team of ladies who hand make each garment. Each collection is exclusively limited with only up to 30 of each design made.

Growing up together in South Australia, Janelle and Nicki are soul sisters and both have a love for travel, the beach and are equally as passionate about creative design and making a difference in the world.

The Travelling Kimono Boutique

Our flagship store is located in beautiful Noosa Heads, Australia. After being online for 4 years we wanted to create a space that reflected who we are, in a setting which could bring our brand to life. We not only use this space to showcase our own garments but have carefully selected like minded brands that compliment our own style and values to stock alongside us. We regularly host different creative workshops in-store as we didn't want to use the space just as a boutique but wanted a space where people could come together and get creative with us. If you are in Noosa come say hi we would love to meet you.
